In order to lead frontline social workers in the development of multiple models to help the economically disadvantaged, Fu Jen Catholic University’s College of Social Sciences is conducting its “Out of Poverty: Diverse Social Work Development Program” to provide social workers with better knowledge and tools through both actual practice and academic research. Specifically, the faculty members of the Department of Social Work are involved in developmental social work and offer related courses (such as financial social work practicum, developmental social work, financial social work, community work, prevention of drug and alcohol abuse, art therapy, mental health, human behavior and social environment, and social work for indigenous peoples); they also founded a journal titled Financial Social Work and Poverty Studies, trained financial social workers, and organized a total of twelve social work and multi-model service events (e.g., green social work experience activities, lecture series on indigenous peoples, and so forth). In addition, in order to alleviate the poverty caused by educational disadvantage in the remote areas of Taiwan, FJCU’s Department of Japanese Language and Literature has been providing an online learning platform through the “2019 Ministry of Education Online Tutoring Program—Partner University Implementation Program”, and recruits FJCU students to tutor students in remote areas online every week. Furthermore, faculty members work closely with teachers in remote areas to give FJCU students educational training so that the students are able to provide quality education.
