Long-Term Health Care Project for the Elderly – Let FJCU Care for Your Golden Years 2020

Elderly Care – Long-Term Project
In 2012, the FJCU College of Medicine unveiled the Center of Elder Care Resource, leveraging on the advantages of a comprehensive university to bring an interdisciplinary team of professionals together to explore various issues related to elderly care in order to promote the teaching and research of gerontology. We aim to promote the idea of healthy aging in the face of an aging society. Such efforts to attain the aforesaid goal include setting up academic modules on gerontology; creating University of Third Age, a college for the elderly; organizing forums on elderly care; and being involved in university social responsibility projects (USRs). The Taitung Summer Vacation Health Services Camp, initiated in 2010, also added new service targets in 2019—namely elderly care centers in Dawu Township, Taitung and the Tianqi Daytime Care Center for the Elderly in Shangwu Village, Yilan—to provide courses on improving one’s health to the elderly in indigenous communities and to help the local communities optimize the resources they have at their disposal so that the elderly there can age with grace.
