The school has consistently made an effort to offer courses such as “Introduction to University”, “Philosophy of Life”, as well as professional courses relevant to each academic department in its curriculum planning. In the design of service activities, the faculty often collaborates with local non-profit organizations, disadvantaged groups, and schools of all levels.
For example, service learning courses for the Department of Respiratory Therapy include seminars relevant to professional service learning, professional services within the school, and so forth. We coordinate students and faculty belonging to the different academic departments under the School of Medicine to form volunteer groups, and head to remote areas both local and overseas to conduct medical services and learning. The Program in International Medical Translation (SDGs 4.4, 8.5, 8.6) enhances our students’ ability to provide linguistic services in the field of medicine, which gives them a competitive edge while also driving the integration between medicine and medical linguistic services.
