Policy to Reduce The Use of Disposable Items on Campus. 2021

International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC)

In order to do more to protect the environment, FJCU does not sell aluminum foil-packed drinks in our convenience stores and vending machines. It has been the first to comply with the government's policy of using washable tableware in our restaurants since 2002. We do not use plastic disposable meal boxes or plastic bags for take-out. From July 2019, no plastic straws were provided for dine-in.

For everyday items, FJCU cooperates with the Environmental Protection Department, New Taipei City, to promote the collection of acceptable used items from graduates and display them on the online platform. Donations and charity sales are held at the "Campus Secondhand Market" to recycle and reuse resources. In addition, a free second-hand exchange area is set up in the dormitory to encourage students to recycle and reuse second-hand items to extend their life cycle.

In addition, FJCU regularly promotes wholesome eating and health education every school year, inviting faculty, staff and students to participate in activities to establish good living habits, and giving away reusable tableware, such as stainless-steel metal plates or glass water bottles, to the winners through a light-hearted competition to reduce the use of plastic products.
A total of 266 people participated in the activity in the 2019 school year, and 185 people completed the competition and received prizes; in the 2020 school year, 197 people participated and 135 people completed the competition, with an overall completion rate of over 60%.
