Percentage of female applicants in the academic years of 2018 and 2019 numbered more than 50%.
FJCU continues to actively engage in the planning of diversified enrollment pathways and the establishment of an admissions strategy based on multiple intelligences and aptitude. Multiple intelligences include verbal-linguistic, design, musical-rhythmic, bodily-kinesthetic, self-analysis, logical-mathematical, interpersonal skills, and so forth. The university’s admissions policies are based on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency. Regardless of gender, all students have equal opportunity to education, and to pursue their goals in accordance with their aptitudes and interests. With the development of the concept of multiple intelligences, female students are free to choose their area of study based on the admission requirements and features of each academic department, in turn meeting the school’s goal of cultivating talent in accordance with each person’s aptitude.
The school places an emphasis on the participation of female students in the learning of STEM courses, and considers knowledge of information technology as a core capability that all graduates should possess; as a graduation requirement, students have to pass a mandatory test or take relevant modules, which would in turn increase the employability of our female students.
Before 2020, through a grant from the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Sprout Project, around 50% of the student body (including female students) had to obtain credits in information technology education.
The school offers double major and minor programs, and students may engage in interdisciplinary learning. Moreover, our holistic education courses are divided into three main segments: Core Abilities, Fundamental Courses, and General Education Courses. Through the different courses and various educational activities in school, we aid students in forming a whole identity.
