FJCU Provides Life-long Educational Resources to the Public 2022

    FJU is a Catholic university. In the spirit of life-long education for all without discrimination, we enthusiastically welcome learners of all identities. Therefore, we provide rich learning resources for everyone, including people who do not study or work in FJU. We welcome everyone to use our library, take courses at the Extension Education Center, and use our campus facilities and sports equipment in accordance with our service regulations. FJU continues to provide open courses and conduct research on open educational resources to elevate education to a new level.


  • Educational resources accessible to the public:


    1. Library:
      Alumni, retirees of FJU, and other service personnel of FJU may apply for a library card to check out books. Regular guests at FJU and auditors of credited courses who are outside FJU may use their ID to receive a temporary reader’s pass and enter the library to use its facilities.
      In 2021, we founded theAudio-visual Teaching Platform Designated for the Digital Learning Network,to promote online audio-visual services. We provide online learning resources and diverse courses for everyone.

    2. Database:
      • FJU’s College of Fashion and Textiles created theChinese Clothing and Culture Centre Archive.

      • The College of Foreign Languages and Literatures created theEnglish Literature and Culture Teaching Database,allowing both people who are and who are not studying or working in FJU to teach and research without spatial or temporal constraints. This achieves our goals of life-long learning and international exchange.

      • The Sports Administration of the Ministry of Education commissioned the College of Education at FJU to establish the Applied Research Centre for Sports and Health Information and Cloud Services and theiSports Information Platformfor people to access sports-related statists in Taiwan.

    3. General courses:
      Except for professional courses, project-based courses, as well as laboratory- and practicum-based courses, FJU welcomes people outside FJU to audit Extension Education Credit Courses.Once they complete a course, they are provided a credit certificate. Some professors proactively allow people outside FJU to audit classes for free, and auditors may apply to use FJU’s TronClass teaching platform.

    4. Online courses:
      In 2021, FJU opened 103 online courses. Among them, 97 were opened to students from other universities who wished to enrol, and 46 were open to the public. Starting in the 2014 academic year, FJU has producedhigh-quality MOOC courses.After the project ended, 17 of the courses turned into self-study courses for people outside FJU to watch and learn for free, and four of the courses joined the Ewant Autonomous High School Learning Programme for high school and vocational high school students in Taiwan to learn independently.
      Moreover, we founded theFJU Powercamto share outstanding teaching videos and materials from FJU professors for all to use.

    5. Lectures :
      The colleges of FJU, the Faculty Development and Instructional Resources Center, the Resource Center of Foreign Language Teaching and Digital Learning, and the Creative Design Center offer part of their lectures and courses for people outside FJU to attend for free.All courses can be joined by signing up on the FJU Activity Registration System.

    6. Various recreation centres and educational sports activities are available to everyone.
