Fu Jen Catholic University hospital has been awarded the Gold Level Green Building Certification by the Ministry of the Interior.
The Ministry of Interior Architecture and Building Research Institute has encouraged construction of low-pollution green buildings that save energy and resources, and establishment of residential environments that are comfortable, healthy, and eco-friendly. It has also encouraged development of comfortable, as well as the development of the three major design principles of comfort, natural harmony and health, and environmental protection, and nine major indicators, which echoes the worldwide trend of lowering carbon emissions. Based on the global trends of green sustainability and carbon reduction, Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital follows the Taiwanese green building evaluation (EEWH) labeling system. On May 15, 2013, the hospital applied for eight green building indicators for foliage, water soil content, water conservation, daily energy savings, CO2 emissions reduction, waste reduction, garbage and sewage improvements, and indoor environmental quality. On June 7, 2018, the hospital obtained all eight indicators, becoming one of the few green hospitals in all of Taiwan that has obtained the gold level label.
