Rural education in Taiwan has long been a matter of interest to Fu Jen University. In this program, students played the role of online learning partners and engaged in one-on-one distance teaching. They used technology to conduct real-time sessions and acted as learning companions to elementary schoolchildren. They did 2 sessions every week for 1.5 hours each over the course of 10 weeks every semester, providing companionship and tutoring. FJCU hopes that, with the guidance of these university students, children living in remote areas will have a better learning environment.
