Hazardous industrial waste is handled outside FJCU campus 2019

In 2018, the types of waste produced by FJCU included biological waste, medical waste, hazardous industrial waste, and toxic chemical waste. It has been 56 years since the school was re-established in Taiwan, and many of the toxic chemical substances in its storage have not been in use for years. As investigated by our faculty members, 38 toxic chemical substances had not been used for more than 5 years; after the investigation, the Committee of Handling Toxic Chemical Substances resolved to dispose of them. In recent years, the FJCU Environmental Protection, Health, and Safety Center has been gradually disposing of the following toxic chemical substances to reduce environmental impact and unseen harm to human health.

  • Biological and medical waste: 4.1692 metric tonnes
  • Hazardous industrial waste: 1.067 metric tonnes
  • Toxic chemical waste: 0.032 metric tonnes
