A Tribe Becoming a Research Institute Fu Jen Catholic University Promotes New Placemaking Model 2019

Fu Jen Catholic University (FJCU) and the Yuwhbun raka tribe from Taoyuan are working together to promote placemaking of the area and have signed a collaboration agreement. They have announced the establishment of the Xiayun Research Institute, transforming the village into a place of learning; in working together with the people of remote areas, emphasis is placed upon learning and creating together as well as seeking mutual benefits. FJCU has made a long-term investment of resources, such as its faculty, research, and services, into the implementation of placemaking, and in turn the tribe will assist FJCU with teaching, research, and student internships. FJCU plans to launch a crowdfunding workshop for placemaking run by university students in the 2019 academic year, and regularly hold placemaking workshops, professional consultation sessions, and events for people to experience the local culture and landscape.
