Through service activities, FJCU has led university students to come into contact with other people, to see Taiwan, to participate in society in concrete ways, and to convey the spirit and values of Catholic love, altruism, and justice. Since 2006 the following three phrases have been used as self-expectations and as reminders during volunteer service:

- May my presence be a blessing to others
- Give the best to those who need it most
- May my life provide company and guidance in the lives of others

FJCU’s academic and administrative units hold ad hoc and regular events off campus; courses and events have been designed to target the participants. For example:

  1. College of Liberal Arts: FJCU Wenfu Chinese Language and Culture Teaching Volunteers work with Rerum Novarum Center to teach Chinese to foreign workers in Xinzhuang District and Taishan District, and to provide guidance. Wenshan Volunteers provide school work tutoring for students at Taipei Municipal Yi-Fang Elementary School. For the history of volunteer team activities, see FB:
