FJCU Offers Health Promotion and Medical Care Services to Community Residents 2022

  • Origin:
    Starting in 2017, the University has been collaborating with the Ministry of Education in the implementation of the Sports Injury Prevention System Establishment Guidance Program
    in New Taipei. Through this program, numerous long-term projects and special projects are developed each year to promote exercise and sports safety in community residents, disadvantaged groups, and New Immigrants.
    As a Catholic university, the University has also voluntarily promoted knowledge in sanitation, nutrition, family planning, sports and exercise, and healthy ageing each year through various special projects, long-term projects, and volunteer services in the spirit of serving a mission and rendering love and service. Such projects and services have spanned from the neighbourhoods around Fu Jen Catholic University to Taishan, Wugu, Taoyuan, and other regions in the Greater Taipei Area.


Hands-on Health Promotion Activity Integrating Respiratory Care Workshops and Senior Citizen Physical Examination and Health Assessment


  • Introduction:
    Applying the skills learned in the classroom, faculty and students of the Department of Respiratory Therapy provide physical examination and health assessment services to senior citizens and explain the assessment results to them. In addition, knowledge on cardiorespiratory diseases are taught in workshops to help senior citizens learn more about respiratory diseases and health-promoting practices. This activity facilitates crossgeneration communication between the students and senior citizens, enhances both parties’ positive attitude toward each other, offers an opportunity for students to put what they have learned into practice, and serves to bridge the gap between older and younger generations, enabling them to keep each other company, integrate with each other, learn together, and achieve coprosperity. As such, it is an activity befitting a Catholic university that cares for the society under the motto of Veritas, Bonitas, Pulchritudo, Sanctitas (truth, goodness, beauty, and sanctity)

Health Education Against Drug Abuse


  • Introduction:
    The affiliated hospital of the University will host a Drug Safety and Correct Medication workshop on April 16, 2021 in the Chenggong Village Senior Club in Wugu, New Taipei. In this workshop, guest pharmacists will explain the appropriate ways to take medicine and watch for drug safety.
    On May 5, 2021, a Medication and Your health workshop will be held in the De Yin Community Development Association in Wugu, New Taipei, where pharmacists will provide one-on-one consultation on medicine use improve community residents’ awareness on drug safety and promote health behaviour.

Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital Offers Free Community-based Health Promotion Workshops



Free Cancer Screening Service of Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital


  • Introduction:
    Under the Cancer Care Quality Improvement Program of the Health Promotion Administration, MOHW, Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital has been offering free screening of four major cancers to its patients since 2018. The number of screened patients was 5,761 in 2018; 7,535 in 2019; 8,443 in 2020; and 10,560 in 2021; an eight-fold growth over the past four years. In total, 32,299 individuals from Taipei City and Xinzhuang, Taishan, Sanchong, Luzhou, and Shulin Districts of New Taipei City have benefitted from the screening. Starting in 2020, the screening service is integrated into a health promotion workshop held on Saturdays to improve people’s knowledge on preventive health care and health-promoting practices.
